July - 1088 words = 30 points (UPDATE! Previously 10 points)
Hyacinth - 1193 words = 30 points (UPDATE! Previously 10 points)

Hyacinth was awake bright and early once more, heading straight to where the kitchen area was to prepare his own meal, which would consist of a simple salad--which was actually turning into his favorite meal. Peeking into the room shortly to check if anyone was there ahead of him, hoping that his sudden presence wouldn't be a disturbance.

July was standing by the fridge with a troubled expression, then closed it and sighed, even if it appeared to be full with food.

Hyacinth noticed that an unfamiliar bunny was already up earlier than him and as she closed the fridge looking quite disappointed, so going inside the room, he offered a faint "Good morning," As a greeting, bowing lightly to the brunette. "Is there..something wrong..?" He asked, sounding a bit uncertain. What was wrong with the food in the fridge..? Was it empty..?

"Not exactly wrong, just no foods that are good to eat right away," July said. "Can't cook to save my life." She added rather simply, without looking ashamed about it at all.

Blinking at the brown-haired rabbit before Hyacinth offered, "If you'd like, I can prepare a small dish for the two of us..? I had just been about to make one after all and i don't mind making more." Smiling amiably behind his mask, "If you don't mind simple meals anyways..."

"You would?" July smiled hopefully. "That would be wonderful!"

Hyacinth nodded, "Yes, of course, please, have a seat, it won't take long," He says rather courteously, ushering the brunette to where the chairs and tables were before he began to take out the ingredients to make the breakfast. "I hope salad is alright with you..Ms..um..."

July sat down, where he pointed to and looked back to nod at his question about salad. "July, no honorifics needed," she said with a smile: "And you would be?"

Hyacinth nodded his head shortly in acknowledgement as he began to chop up the vegetables, after having so much practice with it--it seems that he knows what he's doing. "July then," It was a little weird to address someone without a ms. but he supposes he should get used to it. "Oh, my name is Hyacinth, it's nice to meet you--" He offered, quickly glancing back to the other bunny out of respect, it was kind of rude to turn your back on someone when speaking after all. He then proceeds to continue chopping up the vegetables, before he recalls something. " Oh, did you have a particular fruit you liked, Ms---uh..I mean, July?"

"Pleased to meet you Hyacinth, it's a name from a flower, isn't it?" July asked, then thought about the question he asked. "I do like tomatoes the most, but there aren't any fruits or vegetables I dislike, so any would be fine," she said.

Hyacinth nodded, "Yes, I've been told that it is," and by that it seemed that the pale bunny wasn't aware where his name originated till said person had said so. "Oh, alright then," Thankfully the dish did include tomatoes, so he finished chopping those up and added in the dressing, placing the salad in to two separate bowls before giving it to July. "It's done," he says simply. "I'm only a novice with cooking and the like, so I hope it suits your tastes.." he says modestly, before taking a seat and eating his own food.

"Hmm, I've heard those flowers are easy to grow," July added and took the bowl with a thankful smile, then tasted it. It was a simple salad, but done right - not too much dressing and not too salty or spicy -  July liked the way it tasted. "It's good."

"They are..?" He tilted his head a bit after he had swallowed. "My friend told me they were poisonous..so I thought it would be difficult caring for one.." He looks thoughtful for a moment, only brought out from his light musings by July's words, "Ah," He looks somewhat relieved now as he smiles behind the mask. "Thank you very much," well, at least he was doing alright recreating the salad he'd been taught to make. He continues to finish his food and when he does, he stands up and heads to the fridge, taking out a pitcher of water. He looks back to July, "Oh, did you want some water Ms. July..?"

"My comrade told me you only need a Hyacinth onion and a jar with water and put it in a dark place. 'It's a flower that grows by itself and blooms beautifully' he used to say." July finished eating her salad, but since it was juicy enough she didn't feel thirsty. "I'm good, thank you for the offer, though."

"Ah, I see..." The pale bunny nods to himself, taking that advice into memory the next time he thought about growing those flowers...after all, his father named him that--he must have loved them a lot right? He pauses a bit at July's next words and Hyacinth was left a bit speechless.... "Really...?" His eyes grow a bit sad and there was a moment where he thought he was gonna tear up...but he had managed to shake himself out of it...was that how his father viewed him or..at least wnated him to be..? Independent..and beautiful...it sounded pretty difficult...

He takes the pitcher and pours himself a glass, and just stared at his own reflection for a bit. "...I should be thanking you...," He muttered quietly. Not sure whether he meant for July to hear it, but he is smiling softly to himself.

July nodded at his 'really?' with a smile and observed his expression. Was there some sort of revelation in what her comrade had said? Seemed that way, even if she couldn't tell in what direction the other bun took it. She didn't quite catch what was the last phrase the other bunny said. "Did you say something?" she asked, just in case she missed something important.

Hyacinth shook his head, but realized he should respond instead. "Ah, no, it's nothing..." He says taking a drink of water from the glass before setting it down on the sink. He then moves over to get his and July's plate so he could begin cleaning them. Once he had them set on the sink he immediately set to work in washing the dishes. "Thank you for eating with me today, have I said it already? If I haven't well, um thank you. Hehe..." He rambled a bit, not knowing what else to say to the other, perhaps she would carry about her day now?

July laughed. "Gosh, if you feel happy with that, I can accompany you anytime, I'm useless at kitchen work, so to me eating out is mostly the only option otherwise." She slowly stood up and moved closer observing what he did, it had been a long time since she last saw someone washing dishes. "Do you enjoy it? Kitchen work, I mean."

Hyacinth's ears perked up at hearing July laugh suddenly and wondered if he misworded something again... but was pleasantly surprised to find out that she was simply amused. "O-oh..?" Feeling his heart pulse quicken  bit at the thought of having company before blushing at his rather selfish thoughts. "I'm not too good at cooking though, that's the only dish I know how to make," he admitted sheepishly, and a friend had taught him that too. "Although I am willing to learn more recipes If I could." He rinsed the dish properly after soaping it up well, mulling his own words in his head for a second time.

He had expected July to have left it off at that but instead she came up closer and he pauses for a bit before nodding his head, a soft smile on his lips now that his mask wasn't covering them. "Yes, If I am able to help others, then nothing would please me more..." It was the only way he knew how to help anyhow...

"You are a nice guy, did you know that?" July smiled warmly. "If you promise to avoid making fatty things, I can help you out by taste testing," she grinned. "From the bright side of things, though, most healthiest foods involve minimal cooking for them to taste best," she added. She knew little about cooking itself, but she had eaten a lot of good food and the best were usually those that made the veggies and fruits feel the most fresh. If the other bunny managed to learn cooking something that good, then she was sure interested to help out.

"Ah...thank you very much," Hyacinth replies sincerely, not exactly embarrassed since it would be making his father proud to know that Hyacinth was growing up as a good kid, right? He smiles back at July with equal warmth, "Oh yes! That would be helpful!" He nodded his head eagerly, thinking of the many more things he could make for others rather than just cleaning. Listening closely as July shared that information, Hyacinth nodded his head again, absorbing the new information in his head. So minimal cooking is best.... "Like salads, then?" There were probably f\different kinds..."Oh, what about sandwiches then? Those are simple to make--I think--" no cooking involved...probably...maybe he needed to get a cook book when he goes out...

"Yes, salads are good, there's also stir fries and smoothies and some parfaits. Sandwiches are good if they are made with avocado, instead of butter," July said, then thought a bit. "There are some good foods that take longer to prepare too, like soups or steak," she added. She had no idea how to prepare any of those though, so getting a cooking book would help.

Hyacinth blinked a bit as he listened carefully to the list that flowed out of July's lips, the odd names were peculiar..stir fries....smoothies...he was curious to learn more about these... avocado....was that some sort of fruit..? He nodded his head ever so slightly as she continued mentioning about soups and steak this time...he was certain he'd heard of them before, but didn't know them enough to know how to prepare them... Smiling a bit as learning new things helped him get a better feel of how the world outside his own works, he spoke up cheerfully. "Then next time, I'll go purchase a cook book and work hard to make those--" A short pause before adding, "Oh..if Ms. July would be willing to help me choose one...?" Since he wasn't sure where to start at this level of his, the cookbook may be wasted if he couldn't get it right...

July smiled. "Sure, I can help you choose one. Or maybe I'd be better If I took you somewhere where they make good food in the beginning - it's important to know the taste you are trying to get, isn't it?" She got up, enthusiastic about the idea. "Are you free now?"

Hyacinth's cheeks flushed lightly in happiness when July seemed up for it. Happiness radiating from him as he nodded his head eagerly. "That would be great! I would appreciate that very much..." Not forgetting his manners, he quickly bows to show his gratitude. He had earned enough money as of recently anyways, so he didn't mind spending some if it would help him learn more on food. Or perhaps they would only be observing? He was full to bursting with questions but held himself back and maintained a reserved demeanor despite how brightly his eyes shone under the luminescent lights of the kitchen. "Oh, I have to tend to my friends in a bit..." he says apologetically, reminding him on why he wakes up every morning so early. He finished washing the dishes and wiped his hands dry. "But, I will be free afterwards...if that's alright with you? It won't take long at all--" He reassured, since July was already going out of her way to help him out on learning new things...he didn't want her to think he was wasting her time like this...

"Your friends? Are they also bunnies?"July asked, the word tend seemed a bit oddly used if that was so. "And that's completely fine, I need to get dressed as well - it seems pretty cold outside today."

Hyacinth shook his head softly. "Ah no, they're the flowers," He says simply as if such a thing was completely natural. "Or, would-be flowers anyways," He gave a soft chuckle. "They're still buds at the moment, but hopefully they will grow up into lovely flowers..." He tries his best not to think back of the old base and garden they had left behind there...but maybe just a little, he ends up recalling it against his will anyways and he feels a tight pang in his chest....Never mind, ignore it. Move on...

"Ah of course, I'll be done in a bit," With that being said, Hyacinth hurries to where the gardens were located to tend to his friends. Greeting them a good morning and taking the watering can by the door and immediately began his work. It would be bad to dawdle now that he was gonna go somewhere and he didn't like making other's wait. He started with the patch of clovers, then the lilies, orchids....it only took him about 15 minutes to finish up. Since they were just buds, it didn't take long to water them.

"Ah-- I see," July said with a smile. "Tell me when they bloom," she said and went to her room to get dressed.

"When they bloom, huh...?" Hyacinth pondered to himself lightly as he made his way to his room to get his money.
