[SM] Ray

Her first memory is of a cold winter day. She was around four years old, stripped naked and shivering as people placed their bids on her. She was sold fast - and not for a high price - her ashen skin and root not making her the most attractive out of the cumimi bunch being sold that day.

Her first owners were far from pleasant. Buying the cheapest slaves and working them to the bone in the fields - growing crops and raising cattle. There were a lot of slaves in that household and due to beating and other offenses, the anger within the slaves grew till one day someone set the house on fire and all of them were to run.

Ray ran too - she was sick of the farmwork and her skin felt fry and brittle, working in the sun was not something suited for her.

The slaves scattered after some time, each going their own ways and Ray, at age 9 happened upon a cumimi neutral region. She walked around asking for work and got refused in most places, but one place did take her in - a small bakery, who just lost one of their employees.

At first Ray was no good at all and almost got fired, but she worked hard and learned fast, so they kept her in the end. Since the bread was mainly baked at night, so that everything would be up and ready at sunrise, it was easy for Ray to adjust and she slowly regained her health.

The salary wasn't big, but enough for her to buy clothes and treats - her employers ensuring her a place to sleep and meals. Her employers had a son her age and even though the boy was scared of the girl at first, they grew to become friends with time.

All would have been well, if not Ray seeing humans a tiny bit differently than humans saw her. To humans in that town - Ray was merely a girl with different looks, but to Ray-- the humans were food. The more she grew to like the boy, the hungrier she felt, till one day she couldn't stop herself and bit him, then ate him - hiding his corpse burried in the yard, till she had eaten everythng there was to eat.

Her employers were driven with grief, their son was missing, but they didn't suspect Ray one bit. And that was their mistake as later on she ate them both.

A mailman came and caught her in the middle of her meal... that's when Ray realized she won't come out unscated if she stays there, so she ran.  

Ray stole and ate some children along her way, till finally reached a church that took her in. From there on she was sent to Degate.

On the same day when she came to the house, she caught an air of a meeting happening later in the woods. Not really sure what it was about, she followed along, till got caught up in something incredibly strange. A world where humans shot them on sight and where some of them developed powerful abilities. That world was even harsher than the one she was used to, but there she learned all kinds of things about how to hide, run, how to use others emotions against them - and all in all it was a good experience. She got to experience freely feeding on humans whenever she wished as she had no where lower to fall. Cumimis were already considered monsters and she didn't mind playing that part with pride.

And similarly to how it had happened in that storm, an explosion happened in the house, but she was lucky to escape it. Ray felt relieved that was it. Some died, of course, but she didn't know anyone from the kids who had. She felt sorry for them, but since nothing could be done with it, she choose to forget.

A few days later a conference happened in the attic and there she had to either kill monsters or gather mushrooms. After a monster killed her and she respawned all healthy, she tried to help a comrade by killing him-- and that resulted in her getting a point for monster kill. Since there was a mistake like that in the game, they all killed that same comrade and the game got cleared.

She spent the following week calmly and explored the house at nights while most kids were sleeping, till she had to go on a  mission with others - Sepia, Kiaria and a messy panda named Ava. The mission went rather well and no one got hurt (at least not badly). The team of girls had used snowmobiles to get to and from the place, Ray thought it might be not so bad to borrow one for some small trips later on.

Ray did make some small trips later on and two human children went missing from the towns nearby. And while that happened - house seemed to have plenty of affairs going on. Some kids returned severely injured one night, the night after that - the house was decorated and full with sparkly things and in the morning she learned of cumimis turning into animals and humans - Ray was having trouble to decide whether to try, though, it seemed to have drawbacks. After sleeping that day, she woke up in the evening only to be caught up in a slumber party - she learned about a lot of kids she did not know before and strangely enough, despite having just woken up, she fell asleep again.   

In Christmas Ray helped Olivia in the kitchen and was preparing sweets together with some others. That was fun! Although as Christmas passed she slipped back to her usual nocturnal regime and seldom met others. There were some exceptions, though... and one of them was a dream she'd rather never had. Neo told her that... in seven years she would lose her friend, as he would no longer be a part of her. Eating others did not mean making them a part of you for as long as you lived. 

She cried a lot and did not wander out of the house to eat more kids. Once she calmed down, she met a couple of other kids, including Linus, Merindah and Xena. And one day got caught up in a game, where she couldn't do one task and thus had to spend some time in a bunny outfit-- so embarrassing! 

New year's ball was fun! She met more kids and watched fireworks with Alan in the end. Even if they started out on a wrong foot, she hoped they could be friends... maybe. 

A day after new years passed and in the next one she and three others got sent on a mission to clear some gray. She was worried that the place seemed to eat memories... and it did. She went back to being six, yet a human and could meet the others again as neither of them yet knew one another. They all ended up clearing the mystery and the grays and she passed out. 

Her consciousness only returned as she slipped into a nightmare about regretting eating her best friend, but then it all faded as she got to live a new life as a human girl. She was one of the younger siblings in a household full of girls - beautiful girls at that - only she was an ugly redhead with freckles. Believing no one would marry her she ran from home and went to study at an airforce academy. There she met Merindah and became friends with her fast - Merindah was so cheerful and inspiring and always supporting her! Together they got through many challenges till at one battle Ray lost an arm and couldn't fly for a while. A bionic arm got made for Ray, but just as she got it - enemy attacked and she was shot before she could reunite with her partner. 

Waking up from the storm came with tears and suffering. For the first time in her life, she genuinely hated herself and cursed her own life... perhaps, because she knew what having a family meant right now. Ray hadn't ever hated anyone per say - not her owners, not mean kids on the street, but now she did have someone she resented. Neo was by far the most cruel person she had ever met. On some level Ray could tell why he might have said something about those seven years, but this was too much. Showing her something she could never have like this-- what reason could he have had to do this to her? (To rub salt in her wounds?)  

Ray got out of the house late, only when the BBQ party was already happening. She met Merindah and confirmed that-- they were friends even in this world. That was nice, even if there was a faint sinking feeling in Ray's stomach about knowing what she did to her last friend.

The next day there was a awards ceremony. Many kids got badges for their achievements and Ray applauded for them. Merindah even got a full set - how nice! The event was overall pleasant and she got to meet some new faces.

The days after were spent more or less peacefully. She got to cook with both Merindah and Xena from time to time and was glad to find that she could actually read now. She knew how to read in French, of course, so it took some time to adjust to English. Her newly gained knowledge from the storm - more recipes - also came to use. She didn't get a chance to discover her improved reflexes and problem solving speed, but that was not something bad.

Resist; Able to form a huge field/barrier enveloping a whole city even with enough training and can freely alter conditions inside - temperature, gravity, air composition etc. Can create multiple layers - again, count depends on training. Able to form an expanding high speed rejecting barrier - a bomb in other words; Can destroy huge areas around the user, the damage depends purely on training.  

* Nocturnal. She will sleep during day and try to find a dark place to do so.
* Has dry skin and needs a lot of moisturizing cream and luke-warm baths.
* Her bite has painkilling effects - she might eat your arm without you feeling any pain. She doesn't kill her victims, just eats from the neck, letting her venom block all the pain and senses - prey die on their own from blood loss.
* Enjoys cooking and feeding others good food, however she doesn't enjoy eating normal 'human' food much. She can feel the taste and can tell if something is good, but she won't get any strong pleasant positive or negative emotions if something is extremely good or the opposite.
* Views both humans and other cumimis as potential food, but won't attack those she sees as stronger.
* She loves humans, she accepts instead of judging, and doesn't make anyone suffer while she eats them. She's a 5/5 white - as white as one gets.
